The Sator Pendant
The magical Palindrome "Sator Arepo tenet Opera rotas", the forward, backward, can be read from top to bottom and from bottom to top, has given rise to various translations and interpretations since ages ago.
The earliest inscription found in Pompeii and dated therefore before ad 79. Since then, the magic formula can be traced into until the modern era. Both in Latin and Runic writing can be found evidence for use of the "spell" sustained through centuries.
The literal translation is "The sower Arepo holds with troubles the wheels", but the deeper meaning not apparent at first glance. Is it a Christian secret confession? In the first half, the wording can be "A PATERNOSTER O", God the father between alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, forms.
As is the square mathematically explained, also a magical interpretation is popular. It was considered beneficial during the plague, should help against hunger and fire. Supposedly, to extinguish a fire, taking an item labelled with the Palindrome in the flames. There really was such amulets, however our variant carries the Latin variant, on the back on the front of the case in an authentic Rune font after a historic piece of original.
