What do archaeologists say?
Fact:
From an archaeological point of view, there is no evidence of writing tablets with round corners. All the corners of the wax surfaces are right-angled.
And why?
Well, when scraping out the wax surfaces to refill them, the tools needed are right-angled (e.g. wax spatulas). This makes it very easy to remove the wax without damaging the board.
