Luna chain - symbol of femininity
There are many legends about the moon. The roman goddess of the moon Luna was represented as a young woman on a chariot. She is a goddess of protection, too. According to the legend the ‚temple of Luna‘ was consecrated in the ancient Rome on the Aventine hill, were she was honoured as the moon’s goddess on the last day of march.
The moon’s goddess wore as a symbol a Lunula on her head or in her hand a crescent moon. Luna personifies the feminine part. She is the counterpart to Sol, the current emperor, presented as a sun and his wife, as the moon. The moon as well symbolises the feminine cycle.
