Nero And His Reign
Nero is notorious. His name still inflicts fear and terror. As a young emperor people put great hopes into him and hoped him to be a second Augustus. But he proofed his supporters terribly wrong. He got progressively violent and aggressive. He had people burned at the stake fur fun and systematically hunted down the newly established Christian communities in Rome. All in all he was the archetype of an evil Roman ruler.
His unbroken popularity gives him a very special aura. Thus, you should not hesitate to add a coin showing his face to your collection or to surprise someone who collects ancient Roman coins for a hobby.
It also makes for a great show-and-tell object in history class and can help students to get a better grip on history.
