Chi Rho - the Christian Monogram Relief replica

The Chi Rho has become the universal monogram of Christians during the reign of Constantine as part of his military standard, also known as the Labarum.

The Greek letters X (Chi) and P (Rho) with the letters X and P in Latin was interpreted as the sign of victory by Constantine in a dream he received before becoming victorius in the battle of of the Milvian Bridge (312 AD), just outside Rome. It was also interpreted as PAX pointing to Χριστ?ς (Christos).

This historical relief is a cast of a Roman original stone and ideally suited for creative teaching of religion and history. We give you some examples of painted ones to stimulate you to create your own versions.

  • Chi Rho - diameter approx. 10x1cm
  • White Alabaster plaster
  • Ideal for water or tempera paints
