Double wax table | Black writing boards BRIT PROV
The original of this wax tablet was found with the stamp of BRIT PROV in the vicinity of the river Walbrook in London.
It was the Government brand that was affixed to official documents.
The brand mark BRIT PROV
The exterior of this wax tablet is marked with a circular seal. The text reads PROC AVG DEDERVNT BRIT PROV (‘the Imperial Procurator of the province of Britannia has issued this document').
A procurator represented the personal authority of the Roman Emperor in each province. The provincial government controlled spending of money and the collection of taxes.
Unfortunately, the text of the letter or the document itself of the original wax filling was no more readable.
But you can recreate it yourself.
