The Limes: protection and separation
Limes is latin and means something like "intersecting road" or "borer road". The Limes was a frontier wall constructed by the Roman Empire, which was built from the 1st to 6th century AD in Europe, Middle East and North Africa. The Limes was suited for defence from bigger attacks, control of daily traffic of goods and persons as well as for the fast transmission of messages. Furthermore the Limes presented the economic and military marking of the Roman Empire. Even as a military system of early warning it served!
