The Origin of the Replica
The Haithabu pendant reminds us of its name to a significant place of Danish Vikings from the early Middle Ages. The settlement on the Baltic Sea was known then as an important trading center and as the main transshipment point for goods on their way from Scandinavia to Western Europe. In the 9th-11th century AD, at least 1,000 people lived permanently near present-day Schleswig. The village and its harbor were abandoned about nine centuries ago and are considered today an essential archaeological monument in Schleswig-Holstein.
Valuable Viking Jewelry
Today you too can adorn yourself with the beautiful and carefully crafted jewelry of Viking women. With the Haithabu pendant, you receive a unique piece that effectively underscores your personality. The women of the time were known for their sense of beauty. Even then, they knew how to apply makeup and used homemade beauty products. Jewelry also held a high value in their lives, as the exchange of gifts was part of their traditions.
A piece of jewelry, then as now, is one of the most valuable gifts and conveys love and adoration from the giver to the recipient.
A Unique Piece of Jewelry with Careful Craftsmanship
The amulet stands out for its beautiful and lovingly detailed and noble craftsmanship. In the original granulated pieces, small gold beads and fine wires were soldered onto the surface in delicate work. Our replica of the Haithabu amulet, on the other hand, is cast in one piece. Finding a pendant like those worn by Viking women in the early Middle Ages is rare today, and with this, you receive a valuable, original piece of jewelry.
Additionally, objects in the fine granule technique of the so-called Terslev style are by far among the most impressive jewelry works of the Viking era. From the second half of the 10th century onwards, they appear throughout the Baltic Sea region and illustrate the increasing influence of Christianity, visible also in finds from the island of Hiddensee in the same design style.
