Jupiter / Zeus statue
Beautiful statue of Roman-Greek art. Jupiter stands on a sublime pedestal with a full beard, just as nature created him.
- Total height: approx. 30cm
- made from stable alabaster plaster
- Base dimensions H/W: 4.5 x 10cm
The statue is attributed to the sacred site of Dodona, which was considered the most important sanctuary and oracle in ancient Greece alongside Delphi.
Dodona is the oldest oracle in the country and is still associated with the cult of Zeus today. Among others, Odysseus traveled to Dodona and under Phillip of Macedon (father of Alexander the Great) numerous statues were created there for the temple of Zeus.
The oracles were interpreted, among other things, from the rustling of an oak tree dedicated to Zeus and the flight of doves.
To this day, it remains an unforgettable place steeped in history and closely associated with the father of all gods, Zeus.
