The Bireme - much more than just a model
The kit for the stately bireme from Schreiber impresses with its many loving details. For friends of antique ships, the ship kit is a good point of reference. In the classroom, it serves to underline the current topic.
The bireme was in constant use by the Greeks more than 2500 years ago. The imposing ships were used exclusively as warships, as the large spike on the bow proves. It was positioned just above the water and was used to ram other ships at high speed and literally impale them. On both sides of the ship, the oarsmen sat on staggered benches in two rows, one above the other, in order to use the incredibly long oars effectively. Skilled rowers could also turn the bireme using only the oars.
A detailed kit
The kit contains everything you need to build the bireme. This is another reason why the true-to-scale kit is particularly suitable for use in school lessons. Children and young people automatically learn what the individual components are called and where they belong as they build the finished ship. Furthermore, the construction sheet and the finished ship also give a good impression of the functions of the bireme.
- Scale: 1:100
- Model size: 31 x 14 x 13 cm
- Colorful printed paper
- Pages: 3 Din A4
- Authentic wooden design
All the essential features of a bireme, the proud and stately Greek warship, are combined in this model. Of course there are two rows of oars as well as many small details. These include lovingly and authentically designed shields, a billowing sail and the captain's throne at the stern of the ship.
Dexterity with a sense of achievement
The paper bireme kit is suitable for children aged seven and over. They can assemble the various components themselves with little instruction and dexterity, as the model is built intuitively. Success comes quickly and a proud antique oared warship is built.
