In vino veritas is a Latin phrase that has become famous and says in German "im Wein liegt die Wahrheit". By the way, the author of the sentence is Alkaios von Lesbos. But the Roman historian Tacitus also described how Teutons always drank wine at Council meetings because they believed that no one could lie when they were drunk. There is even another sentence that has become famous, which often appears in context, but has a somewhat contradictory meaning: "In aqua sanitas".
