A Home for your Scrolls
The ancient world did not rely on books to contain written information but on scrolls. Those scrolls, however, had to be stored somewhere. There were several ways of dealing with this issue one of them was to put them in bookshelves, an other one was to store them in so called "cistae". These were basket-like containers most commonly made from wicker. They did not take much space and still ensured that scrolls could be easily put aside. Additionally they were pretty handy for travelers of all sorts that had to take some scrolls on their journey.
They were used all over the ancient world and could be found until the modern concept of the book made scrolls mostly obsolete.
The product at hand is entirely made by hand and offers enough space to easily store a great deal of papyrus.
If you are an avid collector of scrolls or like to write on scrolls yourself but do not know where to put them, then this basket is just the thing for you! Just buy it and be able to store your scrolls in an historically authentic container.
