Cardboard kit Historicals Secutor
Panem et circenses! Bread and games!
That was the motto under which the rulers of Rome kept their populace in the capital and all provinces of the Roman empire in good mood. It is a concept that always works against social unrest, at least to a certain extent, and so we see masses of people attending the show of gladiators fighting each other or animals in the arenas, the coliseum being the largest of them , for distraction. Those men were strong, most skilled for hand-to-hand combat and making it look awfully good for the audience. For a number of them the fights had to end bloody and fatal. The most dignified person (in the capital it could be the emperor himself) present decided on behalf of the audience per hand signal if a defeated participant was to be spared from death or be given the final blow.

A challenging opponent: the Secutor
With this gladiator depicted by our cardboard kit Secutor you get one of the heaviest fighters in Roman arenas when it comes to equipment. His main attack weapon was the gladius, a short sword with a straight double blade. From this latin word also the name for all fighters is derived; gladiators or sword fighters. For maximum originality, the cardboardkit Secutor has to include a gladius for the three-dimensional figure as well. In addition he is equipped with his typical helmet which can be taken off just like the sword. Furthermore he wears his greave and combined hand and arm protection as parts of the cardboard kit Secutor.
The secutor was set as opponent versus the retiarius, or fishnet fighter. His large shield and the flat helmet design were meant to give little opportunity for the cast net to entangle him, while his short sword threatened the retiarius. By the way, for the right pairing of fighters you will find the retarius as well as three-dimensional cardboard kit in this shop.
