With the so-called calamus, the writing tube made of real reed, which you can get in the Römershop, it is best to go on an adventure trip into the ancient writing culture. The gänse feathers, which you can also get among the Römershop stationery, are also ideally suited. The antique calamus is a faithful replica of the noble writing tubes and is best used for writing with aquatints. Handmade copies of antique manuscripts can be given an authentic look. And in this way you can artistically convey to your students what writing was like in antiquity. On our handmade papyrus, you can have the pupils make bookmarks and the like and let them immerse themselves in ancient writing culture. The fascination is certainly on your side!
Aquatinte and its many advantages
Unlike other colour materials, aqua ink dark blue is absorbed very quickly and permanently into the painting surface. This means that with aqua ink it is no longer necessary to fix the paint on the ground after finishing the work, which is not necessary with many other drawing materials. Thanks to the water solubility of the aqua ink, you can remain completely relaxed if something goes wrong while painting or writing. Although the aqua ink is permanent on the painting surface, it can be easily removed from all fabrics immediately. The high pigmentation of the aqua ink dark blue ensures not only brilliant colour and opacity, as well as high lightfastness and water resistance, but also resistance to chemicals, which is particularly important for document authenticity
