The animals of Noah's Ark
The biblical story of the God-fearing patriarch Noah and his family is well known. As God wanted to punish sinful people, a great flood was to wash away all evil from the earth. God only wanted to save the godly Noah and his family by having him build a large ark. In addition to the family, this ark was also to contain all the animal species on earth, a pair of each species - a male and a female - to ensure the survival of the species. Noah was only to take seven pairs of each of the pure animals. Everything happened as God had commanded. A terrible storm poured down from the sky and a great flood wiped out all sinful life on earth. The storm only stopped after 40 days. A dove flew out and brought the good news of the end of the flood. The ark and its inhabitants were saved. The sun shone and a large, colorful rainbow glowed on the horizon.
