Platon bust
This Platon bust of the Greek philosopher ist about 24 cm high and impresses with its simple presentation. The philosopher Platon from Athene, who lived from 427 to 347 BC, was one of the most important ancient philosophers ever. No other human before him created such an extensive philosophical work like he did. Together with his student Aristoteles he is considered as one of the two great philosophers of Antiquity and as one of the biggest philosophers of all time.
Platon even taught on his own school. The Greek philosopher was a student of Socrates and in contrast to his teacher he created a lot on paper. Platon divided the world into two parts. One was the world of senses, which experiences things with the five senses. The other one, the world of ideas, is unrecognisable with the senses. Therefore exist forms, which are unchangeable. And that is the doctrine of forms. Furthermore Platon had exact ideas of a State. The state should be ruled by common sense. Just like the head guides the body, philosophers should guide society. As well education of children was really important to Platon and he demanded it responsibly. In many things Platon already was really modern! As well his image of women for the time he was living in was revolutionary! He had the opinion, that women own common sense and demanded correspondingly, that girls and women should learn and receive education.
