Mercury bronze statue of the Romans
Deity Mercury - A god with many tasks
A real eye-catcher is this ornate statue of the deity Mercury all the time, especially for those who are interested in trade and goods. In the Roman Empire, Mercury was considered the protector of trade, commerce, wealth and profit. His name was derived from the Latin word merx for goods.
But not only that, god Mercury delivered messages as a messenger of the gods and was also sacred to thieves. A purse in the right hand, a cloak wrapped around the left arm, winged shoes and a traveling hat on the head are the distinctive signs of the deity Mercury. In his left hand, Mercury holds his eight-shaped coiled golden staff, which, according to tales, he used to convey messages through dreams.

Deity Mercury from traditional production
The production of the figure takes place after the elaborate lost wax process. In this process, the casting is molded in wax, coated with an investment material and then fired. During firing, the wax melts and flows out. The resulting cavity is now filled with bronze. After hardening, the encasement is broken to expose the casting.
In this traditional process, each wax mold is used only once. This makes each statue of the deity Mercury unique!
