Jupiter / Zeus statue

Beautiful statue of Roman - Greek art. With full beard us as nature has created him, Jupiter stands on a sublime pedestal.

made of sturdy alabaster plaster with bronze patina
pedestal size H/W: 4.5 x 10cm

The statue is attributed to the sacred place Dodona which in ancient Greece, next to Delphi, was considered the most important sanctuary and oracle.

Dodona is the oldest oracle in the country and is still associated with the cult of Zeus. Among other things, Odysseus went to Dodona and under Phillip of Macedonia (father of Alexander the Great) numerous statues were created there for the Zeus temple.

The oracles were interpreted, among other things, from the rustling of an oak tree dedicated to Zeus and the flight of doves.

To this day, an unforgotten historical place closely associated with the father of all gods Zeus.
