Even back in the olden times people liked to cut flowers and put them on display in their houses. This means of decoration is as old as civilization itself. The same is of course true for the early Romans. Even emperors and empresses liked their flowers. Thus, it does not come as a surprise that you could archaeological evidence in many instances on how those ancient flower pots looked like. A good example is the villa of Poppea, emperor Nero's wife. It is full of frescos depicting floral motives, hence, also depicting the means of storage. Apparently, Romans liked to store their cut flowers in wicker baskets. Wicker is a material often used in Roman times. It may seem a bit odd to use something like wicker for a flower basket from a modern point of view but in antiquity it was just normal.
If you too want to decorate your home like a Roman emperes then this is just the item for you to have!
