Homer bust Greek poet

The living together and relations of gods and humans in the hellenistic legends in such a finished form was not reported by anyone else but the legendary Homer. His epics Ilias and Odyssey in the following time are quoted and celebrated again and again.

Who was Homer?

The identity of the poet is as mystic as his legends he is reporting about. Not only scientist doubt, that he ever existed just as one person. Some situate the figure of Homer in a group of poets continuing the work of their predecessor to create such enormous works. But in the Antiquity their were on the same page about the master being a historical person and honoured him for his pioneering legacy. So it doesn't surprise, that people testified him with figurative images his goodwill and let busts of him be fabricated, too.

  • original: National Museum Napels
  • alabaster stucco with black marble pedestal
  • hight of the pedestal circa 23 cm

With much love for details and extraordinary precision the poet surrounded by myths faces you as lifelike as he was pictured in the Antiquität itself. The original of the reproduction is in a Museum in Naples and was used as a model conscientiously.

A jewellery for collectors and fans of the hellenistic culture and the entire Antiquity!
