Augustus coin replica
Augustus was a Roman emperor who lived around 2000 years ago. He is said to have been extremely determined, far-sighted and incredibly tough. Although Augustus was often ill as a child, Julius Caesar appointed him as his heir and adopted him! Even then, Caesar saw great abilities in Augustus in terms of his assertiveness and strength. At the age of 18, Augustus set out to gain power and fame throughout the country. At the beginning of his political career, a terrible civil war raged in Ancient Rome. However, when it was over, Augustus was the proud and powerful autocrat of the Roman Empire.
Peace-loving and clever - Caesar's successor on the road to success
He relied on his army, as his adoptive father Julius Caesar had done before him. However, Augustus was much more peace-loving than Caesar and led the Roman Empire into a monarchy. In doing so, he made himself neither emperor nor king! A brilliant move by the peaceful ruler, as it would later turn out. After the civil war, the people were hit by numerous floods and famines. There were also a number of uprisings, which Augustus' troops were able to put down successfully.

A ruler with a sense of humor and a penchant for popular language
Augustus was much loved by the people because he was educated and cultivated poetry. His bright and shining eyes suggested a divine power! Playing dice was his private passion. He often entertained his guests and indulged in the gambling vice with them. Augustus withdrew from the public eye shortly before the end of his life. He left a will and handed over the office to his eldest son Tiberius. At his deathbed, he was applauded by the bystanders. Two large bronze columns were erected at the entrance to his mausoleum. The people were able to examine the records of his reign on them.
