Becoming the messenger of the gods for beautifully designed messages
You will receive the purple ink on order in a glass flacon that has been sealed with a cork. In this way, the ink is authentically and resealably protected from drying out. Finally, the ink bottles are hand-marked with a Mercury seal by the staff of our German manufactory. An original Roman signet ring is used for the wax seal of the messenger of the gods. This makes each vial unique and, thanks to its appealing appearance, it is also perfect as a gift.

Purple - The colour of the mighty
The first traces of ink as an intensely coloured liquid for writing can be traced back to 3000 BC. The history of the development of purple ink in its early days is particularly interesting. The colour between red and blue was initially the toga and sash colour of the Roman senators. Purple ink was initially extracted from Mediterranean snail species - hence its name as purple snail. The elaborate procedure made the ink the most expensive writing fluid in the world for a long time, which is why it was reserved only for the Byzantine emperors in the late Roman Empire.
In Constantinople, too, purple was the colour of the emperor. In the Middle Ages, purple became the colour of the Catholic Church and especially of the cardinals. As a sacred colour of spirituality and penance, purple ink was also used by monks to copy books. Purple ink is therefore not only an impressive visual material in a bottle, but also suitable for reliving history.
