Construct bookmark Anubis
A god, which is not so easy to forget, is Anubis. The Egyptian god with the sonorous name and the beach head of a jackal is pretty, proud and slightly scary. He is one of the death's gods. Secrets and fascination radiate from him, because he is one of the gods of the underworld, in which he had to count and weigh the dead persons' hearts. Together with Thot he had the task of reporting Osiris, the god of the underworld, about the way of living of the dead people. Was the heart so light like the feather of goddess Maat and dead person had been upright in his life, he got the permission of Osiris to continue living with the gods. But was the heart heavier, he died a second death.
In the Egyptian mythology Anubis is one of the four kids of the sun's god Re and with Isis put together again the dismembered body of Osiris and mummified him. Anubis was obligated with the cleaning of the dead persons, he mummified, adorned and dressed them and protected the shrine, in which they lied, together with canopic gods.
Often he is imaged as a black dog on a shrine or as human with jackal's head, the Anch (Egyptian cross) and the Was sceptre (rod wit stylised animal's had and fluted end).

The bookmark Anubis can be painted with common colours. Watercolours are suited as well as acrylic paint or tempera colours. The last ones have very good and covering characteristics and were used by the Romans and Egyptians already. The nice thing ist as well, to get back to that ancient technique and turn the bookmark Anubis into something even more interesting and authentic.
