Anubis - guardian of the souls' scales
The exact mythology around Anubis changed over time. In the oldest sources he is considered as Osiris' and Isis' so, so Horus' brother, later he was connected to different braches of family. But according to the legend it was him, who mummified Osiris after his death, and therefore gave him eternal and new life. Since then Anubis is considered as the guardian of the deaths' rites and he was obligated with the place beside the souls' scales. There the arriving deceased souls are evaluated and only the worthy are allowed to enter into the land of the heavenly gifts, whereas the others are consumed.
