Beeswax: Pastilles - pure nature!
These small pastilles of pure beeswax are primarily used to refill antique wax tablets. However, the beeswax as a pastille can also be taken for candles. Pleasantly and conveniently the pastilles can be portioned. One order of the beeswax pastilles (100 g) is enough for about 3 wax tablets (14x 9 cm).
- Beeswax - best Quality
- In organic bag made of 100% recycled paper
- hand packed
- 1000 g
And this is how it works: Fill beeswax pastilles into the antique wax tablet.
The old wax is scraped out of the tablet. Then the easily portionable pastilles made of real beeswax are filled into the wax tablet. By gently warming them by hand, the pastilles can be pressed into the wax tablet mold. If you prefer to use wax plates for touching up the antique wax tablets and a wax spatula, you can also find these on the Roman store pages of the Forum Traiani.
The ancient "notebook" of the Romans!
The Roman wax tablet (lat. tabula cerata) from antiquity usually has a rectangular shape and is filled with beeswax in the recessed inner field of the wooden tablet. Wax tablets or beeswax as pastilles are available in natural or black shades. The handling is child's play and quickly the antique wax tablet with the soft wax is repaired or even built itself! By scratching with the Roman stylus, also called stylus, the Romans wrote on the ancient wax tablets. In this way, a large number of Latin carvings have been preserved on the inner surface of the writing tablets. Even then, however, the Roman wax tablets were regularly touched up. With the back of the stylus, the wax was smoothed for rewriting.
School children enthusiastically write on Roman wax tablets
Even today, schoolchildren are enthusiastic about the ancient wax tablets and especially, of course, if they have made the wax tablet themselves! The advantage over the conventional writing book: mistakes are easily smoothed and even with the real wax tablets in natural or black or with the pastilles made of real beeswax a completely new writing surface is created!
