Roman writing feather
Since antiquity through the medieval times the real geese feathers served as a writing tools for papyrus or parchment. Particularly great are geese keels for the art of calligraphy. These feather keel are immediately ready for use since they are precut. To make the tip a bit harder you can heat it up in quartz or bird sand. For this you will need an old pot to fill with sand and heat this up on a stove – until about lukewarm. Just dip the tip of the keel into the sand for a couple of minutes to harden it!
Even without extra hardening this writing feather will present a clean writing result. The feather can be cut any time in different wide writing tips.
- Writing feather length: approx. 25-30 cm
