Tabula Peutingeriana: the world in the year 330 AD
The original artwork of this map was probably made around the year 330, because it shows already the city of Constantinople. In addition, however, also Pompeii is still to be seen, although this city was destroyed by Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD and had not been rebuilt. Yet, as one can see, the city lived on not only in memory, but even on maps. Similarly, some places in the province of Germania are shown, which were destroyed during the 5th century.
