Roman Lar made of bronze
Deities in the home
This beautiful figurines are made of real bronze. In Roman times they were used to protect the family and the home. Almost every Roman home had their own Lares.
Protection
The Lares (Latin Plural Lares; Singular Lar) were the guardians and spirits of the home. They lived in specific places of the house. Hence, they were house deities and usually had their own home in a small altar, the Lararium.
These two figures were modeled after exceptionally well-preserved originals, and we recreated them in the antique lost-wax method and finished them in polishing the bronze cast.
With our two Lares, you can also protect your house, even though the worship of Lares and Penates was banned on the 8 November 392 by the Codex Theodosianus 16.10.12.
- The height of the Lar: 7cm
- solid cast bronze
