The Lares Familiares, together with the Penates (gods of reserves), were the guardian spirits of a family and symbolized the wealth of the family estate. They also represented the deified spirits of deceased ancestors.
The Lares were worshipped at family homes and accompanied the family when they moved away. The cult goes probably back to primeval home burials. Lares were male.

Excellent Service! Bought lares (2) and shipping was extremely expedient to the US. The lares are absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately one arrived broken, most likely due to customs/the carriers mishandling. Contacted Der Romer Shop and they sent a replacement without delay. The second time they made sure there was no way it could possibly be damaged, which I sincerely appreciate. This is a company that stands by their product and has excellent customer service. Gratias!
