The statuette of the Roman goddess is Juno of birth and marriage, the patron of women, is made of patinated Alabaster plaster. Juno was the wife of Jupiter, the highest of all the Roman gods, and the patron of the capital Rome.
Juno is being honoured through the month of June, which is named after her.
The goddess is also the personal guardian spirit for women - an ideal wedding gift for couples.
The original of this ornamental, filigree crafted representation of the goddess Juno dates from the 2nd century AD and was found in 1878 at Leudersdorf in the district of Daun, Eifel, Germany, in an original villa rustica (Roman estate). The original find is kept in the Rheinisches Landesmuseum in Trier, Germany.
