Reconstruction of the Villa dei Papiri
The Romans wrote entire books and speeches by Cicero or Seneca in red and black ink on these scrolls. Rich Romans prided themselves on possessing a large library. The only library preserved from Roman times is at the Villa dei Papiri - the Villa of the Papyri near Pompeii. Our scroll is made in the same way as those found in this library.
