This small, compact round temple is one of the oldest cult sites in the Roman Forum. The temple was dedicated to Vesta, the goddess of the house and hearth fire of the city of Rome. The holy fire that always burned there was guarded and protected by six or seven priestesses, the vestals. Not letting the fire go out was a great responsibility, because in this case it was considered a bad omen for the city of Rome. The handicraft model shows the temple as it might have looked with figures.
