Palace Lichtenstein, a knight's castle just like out of a fairytale
Like a medieval castle constructed based on the novel "Lichtenstein" by Wilhelm Hauff, it sits enthroned on the Swabian Alb, high on a steep rock, the romantic palace Lichtenstein.
Overgrown with thorns it served as the building in the fairytale movie "Sleeping beauty" (2009) as picturesque scenery.
Harmony in the landscape
Because of its embedding in the Alb's landscape, it's architecture and interior decor of high quality palace Lichtenstein is one of the most beautiful buildings of the romantic neo-Gothic in Germany.

Original ancestral seat of the gentlemen of Lichtenstein
Southeast of the former castle of the gentlemen of Lichtenstein, which was taken over and destroyed during the Swabian war of cities of the Reutlinger, unter the ruling of Württemberg a new castle was created in 1390. But as well this one decayed and was destroyed to its foundation walls. Instead in a few metres of distance a little hunting lodge arise. Wilhelm of Württemberg purchased this lodge and instead with the integration of the old castle's walls let construct a German knight's castle in the style of the Middle Ages.
