The cut-out sheet of this boat model was designed after a real archaeological discovery in Israel. The sunken fishing boat on the Lake of Galilee had quickly gotten its name: the 'Jesus boat'.
Amateur archaeologists discovered it accidentally in the mud on the banks. It was dated to the times of Jesus. The remains of the boat are today exhibited in the Yigal Allon Museum.
The reconstructions in the scale of 1:1 can be seen in the Bible house on the Museumsufer at Frankfurt/Main, Germany.
