Minerva / Athena
In Greek mythology, the goddess Athena or Athena, daughter of Zeus, the king of the gods and was at birth from his home after he had swallowed her mother. As "head", the goddess clad in armor has a direct relation to the humanities. She was the special protector of the city of Athens and Virgin Patron Saint of poets, artists, teachers, doctors and scholars. She is the goddess of war strategy and quite too well-fortified and easy to anger.
From the 5th century BC, Rome developed into the Republic and soon an expanding Empire that conquered also the Greek colonies in Italy and the Etruscan cities in Tuscany.
The foreign gods were equated with local deities in the context of interpretatio Romana, as the Roman goddess Minerva corresponds to their Greek image of Athena.
