Papyrus Scroll with Vergil’s Aeneis
The myths of the Roman Empire on ancient scrolls!
The epic written by Virgil on the basis of earlier traditions reports of the escape of Aeneas from the burning Troy. The wanderings of Aeneas finally lead him to Lazio where he is the founder and ancestor of the Romans. The scroll with two rods made of real beech wood contains the Latin verses from the second book (liber II). The beginning of the ancient text is printed on genuine papyrus.
The complete works of Virgil is written in twelve books in over 10,000 verses. Virgil worked on this epic for many years, between 29 BC and his death in 19 BC.
