People always sought after being able to light up their homes during night time. An artificial source of light provides a sense of security and makes one able to perform task and duties even after night fall. Therefore, nearly everyone owned at least some kind of lighting device. In antiquity most people owned oil lamps. Oil lamps were cheap to manufacture, easy to maintain and further not expensive to refill. Some more expensive varieties of this ancient source of light came with fancy patterns and / or ornaments. Stars for example were pretty popular throughout the entirety of the Roman antiquity and far beyond this era. There were many different kinds of stars used to express the desire to decorate ones oil lamp to one's personal taste. Also other motives were frequently used.
The object at hand is modeled after those real ancient oil lamps and has the same functions as one. It can be used with any kind of flammable vegetable oil. One should refrain from using modern lamp oils. They burn to hot and can destroy your oil lamp, as well as pose an enormous fire hazard.
Otherwise this oil lamp is easy and safe to use.
