This finely crafted Lunula amulet is a historical replica of an archaeological find from the Viking Age in Great Moravia. It is produced with loving attention to detail. The name 'Lunula' means 'small moon' and was preferably used by young girls as a talisman and protective amulet.
The moon has always been associated with femininity and objects of this kind should protect from negatives, help women and young girls to connect with their very own feminine energies and support their fertility. The night star symbolizes typically female character traits such as sensuality, creativity and intuition.
A noble piece of jewellery from bygone times
The crescent-shaped disc shape indicates the Slavic origins of this magnificent piece of jewellery and was widely used throughout the Baltic Sea region from the 10th century onwards. The Vikings and Rus also used it frequently. But the Lunula amulets are not only known in the Nordic culture, also the Romans used Luna under the sign of the moon goddess. In the Roman tradition these amulets were worn by young girls, who after entry into adulthood, or shortly before the marriage, put off the lunula jewellery and burned it together with all objects of her childhood.
An artistic talisman for today's time
The moon amulets have not lost their protective function to this day and especially for family matters and women's themes they are also excellently suited as lucky charms in modern times.
