Insignia fo a gladiator
Barefooted with armament, helmet, shield, body's protection and leg iron the Roman gladiator steps outside combat-tested and self-confident. All the insignia of a gladiator are created very exactly. Head and face disappear protected behind the helmet with holes for the eyes. These gladiators remind of the variety of fighter with short swords in the Roman Empire. Gladiators in Antiquity were considered as celebrities and idols.
Professional fighter with short sword
In the 3rd century BC the first gladiator's fights occurred in the Roman Empire. Originally slaves, prisoners of war and convicted criminals fought as gladiators. In the 1st century BC that changed and more and more citizens became gladiators. As reasons for that development the short life expectancy, the good economical care while voluntary captivity, one to three fight actions per year and the total claim to medical care are considered. Their training gladiators received in so called gladiators' schools.
Always a piece of history in the hand
With a Roman gladiator as key fob you always will have ancient history in your hand. Especially your students will remember this image of a gladiator visually and easily. These key fobs will become a historically Roman highlight, if you distribute them to your students while teaching module "Romans".
