Iron gall ink black
The traditionally produced iron gall ink allows you to immerse yourself in the world of ancient scholars - because they too already knew how to appreciate the quality of this ink.
Made according to a centuries-old original recipe
Quality proves itself: our iron gall ink is produced in the same way as it was practiced in ancient times. The first recipe for this ink dates back to the 3rd century BC.
Dried bile has always been used as a basic ingredient, from which, after being crushed and boiled, gallic acid is extracted. The eggs of the oak gall wasp laid on oak leaves are called gallstones. Now only water, of course iron sulphate and gum arabic are added, whereby the latter prevents premature flocculation of the ink and thus increases its longevity. To ensure that you continue to enjoy your iron gallus ink after a long period of storage, the glass surface is carefully sealed with real cork, and a wax seal is also placed on top of it, showing Mercury, the messenger of the ancient world.
When writing with iron gall ink, the writing appears light brown at first, but turns deep black during drying as the iron sulphate contained oxidizes with the air.
