The very elegant looking, slim cup made of colourless glass on a stand ring and with pierced bottom has a mouth, which is spirally wrapped with a delicate blue thread.
Colourless glasses with blue thread covers in various designs have been found in excavations from IT to FR, Switzerland, DE and England.
For a long time it was assumed that Venice was the place of origin of glasses of this colour combination. In the meantime, however, finds from southern France in particular have provided evidence that thin-walled cups and bowls with blue thread ornamentation were also produced there. Their dating into the late 13th or earlier 14th century seems to coincide.
