Horus eye
In the Egyptian mythology the god of the sun Horus, who was depicted as a falcon or with a flacon's head, was of great importance. According to the myth he ascended as Osiris' son the throne of Northern and Southern Egypt after his death and with that he became the personal god of the pharaohs. From the Ptolematic time comes the temple of Edfu, which was constructed to honour Horus.
After Horus losing his sight in the fight over the legacy of his father, his ability to see was given to him again with the help of god Toth. His falcon's eye (as well moon eye, Udjat eye of Wedjat eye) since then is considered as a symbol of protection of health and physical integrity. In later texts Horus becomes the god of sun Re or Ra.
