Ankh the eternal life
The Egyptian Ankh cross was a popular amulet and symbol of eternal life. The Ankh or as well called Anch, is the hieroglyph for the Egyptian word 'life'. Here the cross even comes with wings and is protected by the Uraeus snakes. The filigree pendant was fabricated out of real 925 silver in Germany. In a small manufactory of craftsmanship ever piece is casted one by one, finely polished and cleaned by an expert. The pendant is delivered with a simple leather strap, which underlines the value of that jewellery even more.
The Uraeus snakes by the way are a symbol of ancient Egyptian iconography. In the ancient Egypt the poison of the spitting forehead snake was committed to gods and kings (pharaohs) as an Apotropian symbol of protection repulsing with the fire blaze of its breath the enemies of its owner. So the symbol, often as well in the form of Uraeus frisians, was put up for the protection of constructions on walls or above entrances since the 3rd dynasty in Egypt. Examples are the temple of Abu Simbel and the one of Kom Ombo.
Because of its mythological meaning as the fire breathing eye of the sun's god the Uraeus embodies as well the fire itself at the same time. The magic and power resulting of that turned the reptile into the perfect being for the protection of gods and kings. So the Uraeus became a effective insignia of the kings and their earthenware power of gods, which turned off the enemy, evil and impure for its holy person. The snake is the protector of the pharaoh and the corresponding gods.
