Symbol of life
The Egyptian Ankh cross was a popular amulet and symbol of eternal life. The Ankh or as well called Anch is the hieroglyph for the Egyptian word of "life". Often it was put into the graves of deceased, so that to them an eternal life in the next world was guaranteed. Coptic christians seeking for refuge in the graves later interpreted the cross wrongly as christian symbol hundreds and even thousands of years later.
