Roman baskets were called cista. We have recreated a wonderful piece, made from natural wood.
As a cist or cista (lat.-Greek., "Box") refers to a kind of round container, which was used for various purposes. The cista mystica was woven of willow and contained the used at festivals of Demeter holy vessels.
The cista was also used for storing scrolls.
A real collector's item!
