The original of the detailed bust was found in 1896 really close to the famous Apollo Shrine in Greece (location: Delphi). It is a sacrificial present and given on the occasion of the victory in a chariot race. Originally the figure steered a four-horsed chariot.

Bust charioteer of Delphi

The original of the pretty bust was found really close to the famous Apollo Shrine in Delphi/ Greece in 1896. It was a sacrificial present of Polyzalos, the so called tyrant of Gela/ Sicily, for the Apollo Shrine in Delphi. Handed over was the pretty and detailed bronze statue on the occasion of the victory of a chariot race. Maintained until today only is the bust. Once the figure steered a elegant four-horsed chariot. On the head it wears a headband. The bust wears a sleeveless robe with the name Chiton, the undergarment mostly was made out of linen or wool.
