The bookmarks can be painted with all common colors. Water colours are just as suitable as acrylic or tempera colours. The latter have a very good covering property and were already used by Romans and Egyptians.

So it is a nice thing to fall back on this old technique, which makes the bookmarks interesting and authentic.

A few tips at the end

If you add a punched hole and a ribbon to the bookmarks, it won't slide easily into the book and the page can be found quickly.
