Papyrus - a very special material
As the most important writing material of antiquity, Papyrus fulfilled the same function as paper does in the present day and computers will presumably do in the near future. In a complex procedure papyrus was hand-crafted from the papyrus plants. Papyrus is made from so-called Cyprus grass, a plant which can grow up to three metres high. As in antiquity Papyrus was written on with ink, you can also replicate this experience by using our antique real pen and ink to colour out the booksmark.
