Augustus - a ruler with power and charisma
The people of Rome loved the powerful Augustus, because he acted with the appropriate foresight and purposefully. During his childhood, he was often ill, but his adoptive father Julius Caesar made him his immediate successor. Caesar was impressed by Augustus strength and the fact that he was able to get the approval of the Roman people. When Augustus turned eighteen, he was highly respected in Rome and prized by the population.
Peace-loving and honored by the people - a great ruler without title
As a devastating civil war raged in the empire, he rose to his political career ladder. When Augustus had sufficient political power, the terrible Civil War ended and he became the sole ruler of the Roman Empire. Caesar's adoptive son turned Rome into a conciliatory monarchy and supported his faithful soldiers. Since Augustus did not call himself an emperor, nor possessed a corresponding royal title, he became very popular among the people.
