The founder of the Roman Empire ...
Augustus is probably the most famous of all ancient Romans, along with Caesar. The first emperor of the Roman Empire after the end of the Roman Republic. The founder of the Julio-Claudian dynasty. The end of a civil war that lasted almost a hundred years.
He stands out among all the emperors after him. During the existence of the empire he was considered a shining light and an unrivaled role model for all the statesmen who followed him.
Not only did he succeed in establishing an era of peace and prosperity, he also turned the old-ancient Rome "a city of brick" into the Rome known from the history books "a city of marble". This made him more than popular not only with contemporaries, but also with archaeologists and history buffs.
But right away a bust?
Yes, equal to a bust! Some historical personalities are of such greatness and importance that it is difficult to understand them if their likenesses are not given an appropriate form. And with Augustus, only the best is good enough, and this bust is truly one of the best.
